Ling Jun Ho 何令君 副研究員
My laboratory has long been working on inflammation-regulated diseases. We currently focus on atherosclerosis in a mission-wise consideration in the Institute of Cellular and System Medicine. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide and atherosclerosis is the main cause of CVDs. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disorder with multi-organs/systems damage and the optimal treatment still meets great challenges. A more complicated issue is there are high prevalence and accelerating progression rates of atherosclerosis in SLE patients with unknown on the mediators and mechanisms. Therefore, we are interested to understand the causal factors and fundamental mechanisms involved in the development of atherosclerosis in patients with SLE. Several potential genes that differentially expressed in blood samples from lupus patients have been identified in our laboratory. Most of these genes are rarely studied in atherosclerosis field. Therefore, we aim to evaluate possible roles of these SLE differentially expressed genes in atherosclerosis-related events.
Our goal is to find an effective therapeutic target(s) for clinical application.
